Do you ship bikes?

Yes we do. It's a little tricky though because the bike needs to be assembled by a mechanic. Basically we arrange to have the bike shipped to a local bike shop for assembly. If you're interested in having a bike shipped simply give us a call and we'll set it up.

Do you ship internationally?

Unfortunately, the short answer is not yet. We're working on it though! Check back with us soon. Hopefully we'll have it sorted out.

What is unique about Adeline Adeline?

Our focus is on city bikes – especially for women.

What’s a city bike?

A city bike generally refers to something you use to ride around town (as opposed to a racing bike or a mountain bike). Typically city bikes place you in a more upright, comfortable posture and often have useful (and beautiful) things like fenders, chainguards, and baskets.

What else are you going to sell besides bikes?

We’ve searched high and low to find the nicest bicycle accessories out there.

How come you don’t sell "bike" clothes?

Many people have asked us this. We think (unless you're racing) you should be able to ride in your everyday clothes – and yes that includes dresses and high heels. So just wear what you always wear – you don't need anything special.

So wait a minute, I'm a guy – can I still come to the store?

Sure, you can come. Don't let the women's stuff scare you. We actually carry almost as many men's bikes as we do women's and we have great men's accessories as well – like Brooks leather panniers, seats, pants straps, etc. And of course all the normal bike accessories that are not gender-specific.

Is there a good place to try them?

Yes! That's why we're located where we are. There's a bike lane in front of the store, the street is very quiet – and the West Side bike path is just 2 blocks away.

How does your appointment system work?

Just give us a call and we'll schedule a time that's convenient for you. You can read more about it on the services page.

Will you do repairs?

Yes. We will! Whether it's a tune up on your existing bike, or a customization to a newly-bought bike, we have a full-service repair shop ready to help you.

Do you deliver?

Yes, we’ll deliver to most places in the city for a small fee.

I love your bikes, but my last three bikes were stolen.

If you lock your bike well it is very difficult to steal. While no system is foolproof a good lock is a really good bet against a bike getting stolen. We recommend Abus locks which we feel are the best on the market. They are not cheap, but the quality is worth the extra price to keep your bike safe.

Are you going to sell used bikes or vintage bikes?

Not right now. There are lots of great places to buy a vintage bike, like Landmark cycles in the East Village.

Why the name Adeline Adeline?

In a weird coincidence, both of my grandmother’s name was Adeline so it refers to them. Unfortunately, my mother’s mother Adeline Edelstein is not around any more to witness her namesake store, but I know she would approve. My father’s mother, Adeline Medalia has an incredible spirit - she’s traveled the world, lived in an artist colony in Mexico, acted, directed and taught theater and to top it all off - at the age of 88 she upped and moved to the upper west side so that she could enjoy New York city in her retirment. Who better to embody our store? If you’re lucky, she might even help you pick out a bike.
